I've been hoping to put some electric blue highlights in my hair...?

I've never dyed my hair before, so im not sure what to do. I'm probably going to get it done at a salon or something, but I want to know what they might do on my hair to get it it blue. What should i ask for, expect, etc...I've got dark brown, curly hair, right now so any comments...?

A salon is the best choice. To get your hair blue they will lighten with a colour remover or bleach and then add a blue tint to it. You can also do this at home with a bleach kit and a semi-permanent dye like manic panic or special effects. Keep in mind that blue fades quickly.

First they will bleach the parts where you desire the blue streaks. Then they will apply the blue color to the bleached areas.

You have curly dark brown hair. Thats wonderful. Why do you want to ruin it with blue colour anyway?

If at all you want to colour your hair, I would rather suggest that you go in for something that blends with your existing hair colour. Like light brown highlights.

The blue highlights might not show up in your hair that well due to the color of your hair.

well im not sure what they would do but if u ask the hair dresser for the electric blue highlights they will know what to do, and ask them to explainto u what they are doing to make the colour work., but hey i like the sound of it.....

go and find some electric blue hair mascara and do it that way, it is less damaging, and if this is just a "fad phase" you are going thru it will not create any sort of permanent damage to your hair by bleeching it like you are going to have to do to achieve this permanently, and once you do bleech it and put the blue thru it, you will be constantly topping it up anyway because it WILL fade out quickly as your hair will become very porus through the bleeching process. if your hair is dark brown i dont think blue is a good color try a shade of purple
