Blue hair ??

I want to dye my hair electric blue at the ends, just for a change. The problem is I have really dark brown hair. Some1 said i would have to dye the ends blonde first so the blue will show up on my hair. Is this true ??

Yes it's true or you can just dye the ends twice a day for a week and it will probably show up well then.

Cool i've always wanted to do something exotic you know to stand out in the crowd but i just do it with clothes not hair but i think it will look amazing with the brown hair and especially if you have blue eye's or wear allot of blue.

I would if you want it electric blue!

I always use LIVE Colour - cosmic blue (which is a blue/black) and then cosmic violet on the underneath of my hair! I love colour!!

no because it would still not be a lot of contrast in your 2 hair colors, do like BAM red or pink :)

ok, my sister has her bangs blue, BUT it fades!!! you have to redye it once a week, and it looks terrible with her dark brown hair, and you do have to bleach it!!! dont do it!!!!!

Yes. You would need to bleach the darker color out before another color would show up clearly.

if you have reaally dark hair - dye your ends purple or hot pink! this will look much better than blue, trust me!

and I heard there is some dye which is ok to dye your hair even if they are super dark (I mean theres no need to bleach them previously). try googling to find the name. :)

There's this product I found at Wal-greens..It comes with bleach for blonding and the blue dye..I did it for my husband and it looks great, so I would say go for it..it was only $6.99 on sale and $9.99 and you can't beat that price! It's called Splat..Walgreens.com if you have one near you. good luck! It is kind of messy, but it turns out awesome!

You don't have to DYE it blonde, you have to BLEACH it blonde.

Go to some hair store; Sally's recommendable.

And buy some bleach, and apply it to the parts you want to apply the blue, and leave it in till you can actually see the blonde a little bit, depending on how dark you hair is, depends on how long you will have to leave it in. anywho, after you bleach it, and wash it out, you can then apply the blue.

if you don't bleach it before you put the blue in, there's a 50% chance it won't apear when you dye it, or it will apear but it will be more of a tent then full on blue, like you want it.

Yep. I have dark brown hair and when I have dyed mine bright colours like pink or purple etc. I had to have it bleached white blonde before hand.

It's worth it though as the colour will really take to blonde hair and be really vibrant and pretty.

Well you could to make the blue lighter but...my friend she has like super dark brown hair!Lik almost black and she died her whole head blue and it shows definately!Like blue as the sky!I think it looks funny but the tips would be hot!You should dye the tips purple or red instead!Hot!But ya blue would look so rad!:)

Yes you will, and you will also have to redye the blue every week/two weeks or it will go greenish. if you do it right though, it looks damn hot :P

yeah it wont show up if u put it straight onto your dark hair, it would need to be lightened first. its like if u tried to colour a dark bit of paper with blue pen it would hardly show but if u used it on light paper it would show up strong!!! hope this helps x

Use a product called Quick Blue. This should be applied to the area u want to dye blue. It will change that area to a blond almost white. Then after a few days apply the electric blue dye and it will come out.

My hair is all blue, you'll need to bleach it a few times before it'll take the dye bright enough. It'll go orange the first time and then lighten each other time you bleach it, but two goes should be enough.

You should try blonde at the ends. Blue is extreme, especially for dark brown hair.

if u want it to show up well then es u shuwd make it a liter color just above it first and u shuwd b guwd. Sounds like it'll lok grate!

i wolud buy some bleach and use peroxide of 6% or 9% or just a bleach hair dye from your local supermarket apply this to the ends until it turns blond then wash off dry the hair then apply the blue and leave for 30/40 mins!! make sure when u apply the bleach (and the blue) wrap the hair in tin foil to stop the dye going on your clothes because it will make a mess of them!!

i have very dark hair and when i was studyin hairdressing at college i had my hair, pink then green then blue and this is how i did mine and how i do it in the salon!!

the blue would not show up that well on dark hair unless you did the bleach!!
