My friend wants his hair blue but he needs to do it discreetly - like... I was wonering how to make hair look black indoors but out in sunlight, hair look like a bright saturated blue?

my friend mentioned an electric blue hair glaze? does anyone know anything about it? any product you put over dyed hair to give it that effect in sunlight? an electric blue.

well, any haircolor is going to look lighter and brighter outside than it does inside. but if you want it to look bright blue outside and black inside?? thats kind of impossible. you could definetly lighten to a lighter level (the lighter the better), and then put a blue black glaze over it. the only probably with this is its going to fade, because anything put over blonde hair does fade. when it starts to fade, it'll be really noticeable.

Go to the hair dye section in a store. Pick up your desired shade. They make all sorts.

Black that looks blue in the light.

Red that looks blonde in the sun.

And black that looks burgundy in the sun.

It is made by Loreal and its for men. But some rockers and teens use it.

Completely impossible. You can't make your hair go totally different colours depending on the light.

You can get a black hairdye that gives a blue "sheen" to your hair in strong light...you know how people with brown hair get a red shine in the sun? Well imagine black hair with a blue "shine". That's the closest you'd get. That type of black hair dye is pretty common too.

if they have dark brown hair then i would just bye dark blue hairdye and then it will show up in the light but not indoors. i did the same with my hair. indoors no one knew it was purple but out in the sun it was like i had grapes for hair.

Let me assure you, this is possible.

You have a couple of options here depending on the starting color of her hair and the condition of it.

If you don't want to bleach it and you don't want to process it with an amonia-based color, I'd recommend Special Effects Blue Velvet. It will cover brown hair and she'll have a dark, dark, blue. (think navy, almost blue black) at first. In the light it will be more vibrant. As the color fades, the blue will become lighter.

Another option is using a blue-black like Garnier Fructis blue-black and mixing in some Special Effects blue velvet, or Special Effects electric Blue. This will ensure that her hair is black but still has the blue shine in the light that she wants.

Also, I find that Special Effects lasts a lot longer and covers better than Manic Panic.

Here are some pictures of my hair with the garnier/SE combo
